Anxiety Disorders

Anxiety disorders are a group of mental illnesses characterized by persistent and excessive feelings of anxiety, fear, nervousness, and worry. The most common types of anxiety disorders are generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety disorder, panic disorder, and phobias. Individuals with anxiety disorders often experience symptoms, including feeling tense or 'on edge,' having panic attacks, avoiding certain situations that trigger anxiety, rapid heartbeat, sweating, trembling, and more.
To be diagnosed with an anxiety disorder, the anxiety must be out of proportion to the situation, be difficult to control, be persistent for longer than 6 months, and negatively impact daily life.

At Mindagon, we incorporate mindfulness-based approaches to help individuals relate to anxiety differently, not resisting or fighting against it but instead accepting it with openness and curiosity. This helps anxious clients step out of the cycle of escalating fear and reactivity.
